The Anders Wall lecture
ABOUT THE LECTURE
The Anders Wall lecture is Scandinavia’s largest lecture about entrepreneurship. The lecture is a collaboration between Uppsala University, Entrepreneurs Academy and Anders Walls Professur in Entrepreneurship with the aim of inspiring young people to creativity and entrepreneurship.

INTERNATIONELLA ENGELSKA SKOLAN
Barbara Bergström was a natural science teacher in a public school when the free school reform came in 1992. She immediately ended her employment to start a school based on her own belief, built on order and work, full mastery of the English language and high academic ambitions. Twenty-five years later she runs 36 schools in Sweden with 26,000 students. Another close to 200,000 students are queuing up for years to come. An extensive business has also been established in Spain. In 2009, Barbara was named “Entrepreneur of the Year in Sweden” and by Veckans Affärer 2017 to “The most powerful female entrepreneur of the year”. In 2018, she received Svenska Dagbladet / Carnegie’s award for “Business of the Year”.
Ben Gorham is the former professional basketball player, growing up in Akalla, Canada and the USA, who founded the Swedish brand Byredo, which produces, markets and sells products in perfume and beauty, leather and accessories and sunglasses. Byredo is currently active in over 40 countries with offices in Paris, London, New York, Berlin and Shanghai and also a creative studio in Stockholm. The brand has been recognized for its unique perspective in the luxury segment and continues today its international growth with store establishments in various key markets. Ben often sees parallels between his background as an elite athlete and his entrepreneurship.
As a digital entrepreneur, Isabella Löwengrip is a pioneer in Sweden. Her journey started when she as a 14-year-old moved away from home and created the blog Blondinbella. She was one of the first to blog and manage to build companies around it. Since then, Isabella has founded a number of successful companies within beauty, fashion, and social media, all of which have strong growth and international market. Today, her company has a total turnover of SEK 100 million and about fifty employees. Her blog is the largest in the Nordic region with 1.5 million followers and can be read in four languages. Her beauty company is Sweden’s fastest growing. In 2018, Isabella was named “The most powerful woman of business” by Veckans Affärer.
NELLY.COM & NA-KD.COM
Jarno Vanhatapio, the founder of the e-commerce success Nelly.com and the digital pet store ZooZoo.com, is considered one of Sweden’s foremost entrepreneurs. He is now on his third entrepreneurial journey with the fashion company NA-KD, which went live in December 2015. The site has gone from a turnover of 20 million to 400 million in just two years, making NA-KD one of Europe’s fastest growing companies. The head office with 180 employees is located in Gothenburg. A success factor has been the rapid growth in social media. The company currently has almost two million followers on Instagram. In January 2018, the company raised $ 45 million in venture capital and is now valued at approximately SEK 2 billion.

Joel Hellermark is the CEO and founder of Sana Labs, who specializes in online training for the individual’s knowledge and ability with the help of artificial intelligence. By applying the latest breakthroughs in AI in digital education platforms, one can optimize the individual pupil’s knowledge and commitment, which according to several studies has shown to double the rate of learning. The interdisciplinary team consists of senior engineers and researchers with backgrounds from Imperial College, Google, CERN, and Spotify. Sana Lab’s intelligent solutions are used by educational companies around the world and will be scaled in the next few years so that hundreds of millions of students can study in an individualized manner.
Mingle at the castle
The lecture ends every year with a mingle at Uppsala Castle where students are given the opportunity to network with people from the business community in Uppsala.
Before the lecture, companies in Uppsala are offered to exhibit during a company fair. During the fair, all companies get the opportunity to meet and network with ambitious students.
